Elto was founded in 1936 and started out producing gas lamps. In the Post-War period, production expanded to include welders, welding machines and battery chargers.

In June 2003, the owners transferred the business to the Chinook SpA Group which, thanks to new investments directed towards perfecting production techniques, upgrading IT procedures and reorganization of the management system, secured the company a forefront position in the welding sector .
